EveryDay Devotion Note 1

Unconditional Love
Love is always going to be shaped by our unique perspective.  That is the lesson of unconditional love.  That everyone, as a unique expression of God’s love, loves everyone else at the level they are at right now.  Even someone who on the earthly level appears to hate you, you can choose to shine your love on them and perceive that at their core they also love you, because we are all expressions of the one love.  It is amazing how the silent recognition of love, even when someone is yelling at you, can resolve a tough situation.

Exercise
Deepak Chopra offers a simple way to do this in his book, “The Spontaneous Fulfillment of Desire.”  I have playfully renamed it “The Namaste Eye Game” and modified it slightly.  Every time I encounter anyone, I try to remember to look them in the eye and silently say, “Namaste.”  Namaste is a sanskrit word of salutation that means something akin to “I bow to the divinity in you.”  It is a way of recognizing the divinity in another person.  You can substitute the word, “love” if Sanskrit does not speak to you.  The important point is to take a moment and recognize the other person on a deeper level.  Do this with the store clerk, the person you walk by at the park, your husband, boss, secretary, mother, and everyone you encounter all day long.  If you pass someone by and realize you forgot to “Namaste-eye” them, you can bring up a visual image of their eyes and say Namaste even after you have left them.  When I started doing this, I was amazed by the results.  Strangers went out of their way to help me and offer assistance.  Do this exercise and see whether or not you start to perceive people on a deeper level all day long.  What we believe, we see.  If we start to believe that everyone is divine, then we will see divinity everywhere we look.

devotion everyday

Hanuman,
I devote this day to you.
Help me not to crave physical affection,
but instead to see that love is service,
that it is unconditional,
and that by serving and giving unconditional love,
I will in turn receive unconditional love.
Help me to be happy exactly where I am,
and to see the truth of my desires,
while relinquishing attachment to their form of fulfillment.

at Love's hand

My love is so deep and other-wordly;
it is impossible for me to control.
I tried to withhold it when I thought she didn't love me back.
The pain was awful and she never left my mind.
Then I realized that I love her no matter what.
My body and mind can't control the love.
My only choice is surrender.
The love is there. Even when I perceive hurt at love's hand, the pain of withholding it hurts far worse.
I love the love.
I'm in love what that love.
I will wait forever for that love.
I know that love can't be stopped.
I don't have to do anything.
I just let the love shine through me,
and watch all my dreams come true.

Today's special affirmation

I let my love flow, even when it hurts; because when fear causes me to hold it back, the hurt turns to suffering.  I'm grateful for the path that lead me here, and I'm never going back.  Kali, I pray, release me forever from my fear of love.

bleed

Help me, Kali,
it aches so deep.
Is it me or her I see...
Will I know,
how can it be?
First I cough,
then I bleed.
Is it her or me I see?
Help me, Kali,
meet my needs.
Sow me into ecstacy.

A New Creed

·         I believe in the law of cause and effect; karma.
·         I believe that our thoughts control our reality.
·         I believe that when I ask Kali for something, the law of karma goes into action.  What I ask for will always be provided to me, though not always in the form I imagined.  Often that which I ask for comes in a form that is even better than I imagined.  Detachment from the ultimate form is the key.
·         I believe that by focusing my thoughts on Love, I attract Love into my life.
·         I believe that presence is the key to bringing awareness to my thoughts, so that I am aware of and can choose the karma I am creating.
·         I believe that everything appearing in my life right now is the result of some past thought; either my individual thought or a collective thought.
·         I believe that when I ask for guidance from Kali, the Divine Masters or angels, it is right there.
·         I believe that gratitude for the things I have fosters gifts of love and appreciation in return.
·         I believe that shifting the energy of my thoughts immediately shifts my reality; such that other beings instantly, whether consciously or unconsciously, recognize and react to the shift.

Thank you, heartbreak

Thank you, heartbreak,
for taking me deep into my hell,
to wrestle the zombies lurking there,
and break through my kurmasana shell.

Thank you, hurt,
for creating that heart space
to allow Love to flow freely,
and Kali's healing to take place.

today's prayer

Kali, help me realize that I hold the key to healing my own heart,
that those that hurt me do so unwittingly, they too are hurting;
that nothing is personal, how can it be?
We all live in our own movie, our own self-created reality.
Help me to see this truth, and to stop hurting myself,
to realize I am everything I ever wanted,
that my heart is already whole.

Moonday Mother prayer

Kali, may I feel your ocean of bliss
even beneath my earthly joys,
so that should those joys be replaced with sorrow,
I will feel your bliss evermore deeply,
lest I by chance forget
your deep ocean within.

rain, Kali, rain

I smoke my heartache and dream of you.
what is delusion...
And what is reality to my rose-filtered lenses?
The rain adds to the ambience.
The rain purifies my soul.
The rain leeches the past from my heart, so that we may begin anew.
As I sit here, dreaming of you.

blissful thinking...

Kali, Kali, Kali:
You can't hide from me.
I thought I'd lost you when I did not feel
    your touch, your lips, your kiss;
but you can't hide what's in your eyes
you want to feel my bliss.
Your eyes tell me what's in your soul
your wants, your needs, your joys.
Your eyes tell me: it's me you want
    I'll wait, I'll hope; rejoice.
For soon, I know, I'll feel
your touch, your lips, your kiss.
Your eyes tell me, you can't hold back,
I'm yours, come share my bliss.

Kali Remind me

Kali, before I fall for you again as human grace,
before your perfumed hair tickles my face,
before my heart longs to feel your touch,
Remind me.
Remind me that you are the perfumed flowers on the breeze,
the birds suddenly appearing as I sit beneath the trees,
the leaves that fall upon my face,
Remind me.
Kali, I beg, remind me;
this time before my attachment grows too deep,
before my eyes are doomed to weep.
Before my heart and body ache, remind me that You never forsake.
